Terms and conditions
Oasis Network is a community, and these are the rules that keep it worth being part of. Creating an account means agreeing to them. There is no small print: this page is all of it.
The short version: do not hand anybody malware, and do not be cruel to the people you are talking to.
No malware, ever
Do not post, link to, send or hand anybody a virus, trojan, keylogger, ransomware, password stealer, a cracked program with something extra hidden inside it, or any other code meant to damage a computer or take it over. This holds whether you wrote it, found it, or are only passing it along, and whether you call it a joke, a test or a favour. It also holds for anything you have not checked yourself: if you do not know what a file does, do not give it to somebody who trusts you. This is the rule with no second chance.
No insults, no harassment
Disagree as much as you like - argue with the argument, not the person. No insults, name-calling or slurs; nothing mocking somebody's sight, disability, voice, accent, age, race, religion, gender or sexuality; no sexual harassment; no threats; and no following somebody around the site to needle them. Several people going after one member counts, and so does an insult dressed up as a joke. If somebody asks you to leave them alone, leave them alone.
Other people's private business is theirs
Do not post anybody's real name, address, telephone number, workplace, photograph or private messages without their permission. Do not try to get into somebody else's account, and never share or ask for a password.
Nothing illegal
No pirated software, games, books or audio, no stolen accounts, card numbers or credentials, and nothing else that is not yours to hand out. Sexual material involving anybody under 18 is reported to the authorities and the account is removed, with nothing to discuss.
No spam, no pretending to be somebody else
No advertising runs, referral-link farms or unsolicited mass messages, and do not post the same thing across every board. Do not pass yourself off as another member, an administrator, a developer, or anybody you are not.
Do not attack the site
No breaking in, flooding, or working around a ban with a second account. If you find a security hole, tell an administrator instead of using it - that is genuinely appreciated, and reporting one in good faith never gets you in trouble.
What you write stays yours
You keep what you post. Putting it here lets Oasis Network show it on the site, and nothing else: it is not sold, licensed onward, or used to train anything. Post only what is yours to post.
You must be at least 13
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over.
If a rule is broken
Depending on what happened, a post may be removed, an account suspended for a while, or an account banned outright. Malware and sexual material involving children go straight to a ban. An administrator will tell you which rule it was, and you can reply to that message to put your side of it.
If these change
The rules may change as the site grows. Anything substantial is announced on the site rather than slipped in quietly.
